Odeama

Formed by me & Martin early 1998, Odeama was an attempt to edit the creative output of Stray Dog City down to more manageable pieces & to combine that with where we were at in 1998. Out of this came our primary intention: focus. We began in organised soundscapes & ended with post-punk anthems. It was a natural shift - a telling sign of the influence that post-punk/alternative music exudes over much of music.

Martin's brother Lee joined mid 1998 & added live electronic percussion courtesy of a yamaha drum pad. The extra percussion aided our shift to a more song-based structure - it just made sense.

After a while personal shit crept in again & I was forced out early 1999. Not the best way to leave a band - quite a disappointment for me - there was so much potential.

Our first demo, we recorded 'Books and Film' in the Lab at the end of June 1998. Good live performance, good reproduction. This is the original early Odeama sound before Lee joined.

We also recorded a track for the N.Pole Soundlab Recordings 'Sounds In Your Head Vol.1' EP.

'Spy vs Spy' was the peak of our 'song' based material & includes Lee on percussion. It has been played on French radio (which gives me the horn just thinking about it).
